The Model Car Garage is owned and operated by Robert Korunow of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. An
avid modeler since he was a kid in Westfield, N.J., Bob credits longtime modeling master Augie
Hiscano of Miami for mentoring him to that higher level of the craft where even the tiniest
details become crucial. Wanting to put his skills to the test, in the early 90's Bob decided to
build up a Plymouth Satellite, a favorite muscle car of his youth.
During the year and a half it took to build the model, an interesting thing happened. Many of
the intricate details Bob needed for his model simply did not exist, so they had to be fabricated
or machined from scratch. For example, in order to create the pulleys for the engine, Bob
purchased a small lathe. Hearing of this, his friends were soon asking for sets of their own.
Soon there were other requests and more parts that would not fit his requirements. Fan belts,
steering columns, trim pieces, disc brakes, they all had to be built from scratch. By the time
the Satellite was approaching completion it was a full-blown test bed for dozens of different
pieces.
His efforts paid off in many ways. In addition to winning Best Street Machine and Best Paint
Job at the 1993 Great Salt Lake Model Car Championship with the Satellite, Bob was getting so
many requests for his aftermarket pieces that he was able to quit his day job and devote himself
full time to The Model Car Garage.
Today, The Model Car Garage offers almost 400 different items, from photo-etched detail sets to
flocking to machined aluminum parts.
Here's what some of the most well-known luminaries in the model car hobby have to say about The
Model Car Garage:
"As a technical columnist and how-to-writer it's my job to stay on top of who's making what in
the model car industry. The Model Car Garage is on the cutting edge of the aftermarket products
available today. The quality of their billet and photo-etched parts is top shelf and, best of
all, affordable. -Pat Covert Pat Covert is well known in car modeling circles as the Tips & Tech editor for Scale Auto
Enthusiast magazine, the AutoFile columnist for The IPMS Journal, and the author of several
best-selling books on model car building. In addition, Pat is the 1991 IPMS Best Auto
national champion and has been the recipient of over twenty state and regional Best in
Show awards.
"The model car aftermarket is one of the fastest growing segments of our business. Our
store has carried MCG products since 1995 and we've seen excellent sales in the line ever
since it was implemented. The Model Car Garage seems to have hit just the right niche by
offering excellent quality at a price the average modeler can afford. The entire product
line is attractively packaged and is growing by leaps and bounds. I highly recommend the
MCG line to you and your customers."-Augie Hiscano Augie Hiscano has observed the model car hobby from a unique perspective over a thirty year
period. Augie was the winner of the 1964 Revell-Pactra National Championships, the highest
honor of the glory years of car modeling. Not one to sit still, he has won Best of Show at
the prestigious GSLMCC Championship in Salt Lake City three times - a feat never before
accomplished in model car history. But perhaps most unique is that Augie has been in the
business end of the hobby for the past thirty years as a manager at the highly successful
Orange Blossom Hobbies in Miami, Florida.
The Model Car Garage product line is as good as I've seen, both in terms of quality and
accuracy, and at a fair price. Don't overlook this unique inventory, you might shortchange
your next project!" -Larry Boothe Larry Boothe needs little introduction to the model car hobby considering all the award
and recognition he has received over the years. His list of honors reads like an order
form for a trophy catalog. Larry walked away from the 1994 GSLMCC Contest in Salt Lake
City with Best of Show, Peoples Choice, Best Detail and First in Class awards for his
superlative 1957 Ford Thunderbird model. Over the years Larry has discovered the secrets
to master building and focuses on the details that make each of his models outstanding.
